Common eBay Account Errors (with Solutions):

Anytime you see an error reported when attempting to push a product to eBay or when validating & viewing fees for a product, it is because eBay has an issue with the product data or the eBay account you are using. In this article you will find how to resolve many of the common errors that eBay may report related to your eBay account.

To Re-Authenticate your eBay Account Within Push to eBay:

The first thing to always try when facing an error reported by eBay is to “Re-Authenticate” your eBay account. This will re-establish the connection between Inventory Source and Ebay. You shouldn’t need to do this often, but it’s good to try this first when encountering unusual Listing Errors. Please follow the steps below to complete the re-authentication process.

Start by logging into your Inventory Source account at https://app.inventorysource.com/. Then navigate to our Push to eBay tool on the menu on the left side of the page. Once you are on the Push to eBay page, you will select the "Re-Authenticate" option that is highlighted in the image below.

Once you select the "Re-Authenticate" option you will be directed to the login page for your eBay account. You will then log into your eBay account and approve the integration with Inventory Source. By doing this a new API token will be generated for our system to connect with your eBay account.

To complete the re-authentication process please reach out to our support team at support@inventorysource.com or by accessing the chat feature that is available when logged into your Inventory Source account (chat is available Monday - Friday from 9am - 8pm EST). Our team will then be able to update your Push to eBay settings to connect using the newly generated API token.

Common eBay Listing Errors Related to your eBay Account:

"Additional Info" Error:

Listing Error: Before you can list this item we need some additional information to create a seller's account.

Solution: Ensure you have completed step # 2 on the eBay getting started selling page.

This error comes from eBay and is likely because you have not yet set up a payment method for eBay to charge you automatically for selling fees. As such, eBay will prevent you from listing products until you have authorized a payment method on file with eBay.

To do so, click the Account tab of your My eBay area. Navigate to the Payment Methods for Seller Fees, and change the automatic payment method link.

"Funds" Error:

Listing Error: Funds from your sales will be unavailable and show as pending in your PayPal account for a period of time. Learn more:  http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?UserPolicyMessaging

Solution: This error is simply a notification - meaning that it will always be accompanied by another error that you will have to resolve. Once the other errors are resolved this notification will disappear altogether. This error comes when the money you receive from the buyer will be there, but you would not be able to use it for a certain amount of days, or until the buyer leaves positive feedback indicating that all is well with the purchase.

Payments from buyers will be available immediately to the sellers who meet all the criteria listed below:

a) It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale

b) You've had more than 25 sales transactions and

c) You've had more than $250 in total sales.

Please refer to the eBay's Funds Availability Policy. for more information.

"Invalid Store Category ID" Error:

Listing Error: Invalid store category ID, 18101506018, so item has been listed to the 'Other' store category

Solution: Delete the "store category ID", save the changes and try again. The "Store Category ID" is not the same as the "eBay Category". Only in rare cases do you need to have the store category ID filled in. This option is essentially for identifying which products get placed into categories that YOU create. They do not need to match the category ID's that eBay has.

"Additional Information to Create a Seller's Account" Error:

Listing Error: Before you can list this item we need some additional information to create a seller's account.

Solution: This error comes from eBay and is likely because you have not yet set up a payment method for eBay to charge you automatically for selling fees. As such, eBay will prevent you from listing products until you have authorized a payment method on file with eBay.

To do so, click the Account tab of your My eBay area. Navigate to the Payment Methods for Seller Fees, and change the automatic payment method link.
